Inter-FAB Cooperation

Inter-FAB Cooperation

An agreement at ANSP level between BLUE MED FAB and DANUBE FAB was signed in October 2014 by the Co-Chairmen of the DANUBE FAB ANSP Board and the Chairman of the BLUE MED ANSP Committee with the aim of establishing and enhancing cooperation in ATM in the two adjacent FABs. Establishing a flexible cooperation mechanism, the agreement will contribute towards the safe, efficient and optimised provision of air navigation services. Since the agreement entered into force, DANUBE FAB and BLUE MED FAB have coordinated and nominated Members and Focal Points from each party. DANUBE FAB/BLUE MED meetings were held during the World ATM Congress in 2015 and 2016.

Similarly, an agreement at ANSP level between DANUBE FAB and FAB Central Europe (FAB CE) was signed in 2015 by the Co-Chairmen of the DANUBE FAB ANSP Board and the Chairman of the FAB CE CEO Committee, with the aim of establishing and enhancing cooperation in ATM in the two adjacent Functional Airspace Blocks.

Regarding the Inter-FAB Coordination Platform, in 2015, at its second meeting, delegates from all Functional Airspace Blocks agreed with the proposed Terms of Reference and nominated points of contact (PoCs). DANUBE FAB has remained active and developed and distributed through its PoC a draft Inter-FAB Communication Strategy, approved in September 2016, when FABEC organised the first Inter-FAB PoC coordination meeting, for preparing the Inter-FAB Coordination work programme for 2016-2017 and agreeing on the IFCP Communication strategy.

DANUBE FAB committed itself to cooperation and coordination with other FABs by signing cooperation agreements at ANSP level with BLUE MED FAB and FAB CE, in October 2014 and October 2015 respectively. As reflected in the DANUBE FAB Strategic Program for 2016-2020, it is our priority to build on these agreements to initiate new projects or extend existing ones regionally to neighboring and other FABs. For this purpose, discussions and informal meetings were held between FAB CE, FAB EC and DANUBE FAB representatives on topics of common interest such as preparation for RP3, IATA study, EC survey and preparation of an Inter-FAB coordination meeting.

DANUBE FAB is also an active stakeholder in the Inter-FAB Coordination Platform, formally established through the agreement of its Terms of Reference by the representatives of all FABs.
