DANUBE FAB panel debate at World ATM Congress 2019 on FABs participation in SESAR projects

Mr Nikolas Warinsko, Mr Filip Cornelis and Mr Jakub Kepa joined senior representatives from DANUBE, BALTIC, BLUE MED, FABEC and FABCE to debate achieving a genuine FAB participation in SESAR.

Hosted by DANUBE FAB and moderated by Helios Director Mr James Hanson, the debate focussed on the challenges and opportunities in evolving the role of FABs. The FAB representatives were united in their desire to further develop the FAB concept; believing firmly that there is a place for FABs in the delivery of the future European Airspace architecture.

A key factor limiting the evolution of the FABs is solving the issues around cross border liabilities, the FAB representatives were in general agreement that an update to the regulations would be of great assistance in resolving this issue. Mr Cornelis expressed his confidence that a suitable solution could be found. Mr Warinsko, Mr Cornelis and Mr Kepa listened attentively to the FAB representatives; providing firm support for the continued development of FABs. Mr Warinsko stating, ‘We [SDM] are keen to keep the ball rolling and not stop this key enabler’.

DANUBE FAB wishes to sincerely thank Mr M Rodak (PANSA), Mr V Cimpuieru (ROMATSA), Mr M Paggetti (ENAV), Mr M Eljon (FABCE Aviation Ltd) and Mr M Van Dorst (LVNL) for representing the FABs. Mr Hanson for moderating and a particular thanks to Mr Warinsko, Mr Cornelis and Mr Kepa for representing the European Commission and the SDM.
